Push Weekend

A mini, high-velocity version of our classic 5-day program.

Welcome to the first ever Push Weekend.

Stretch your fingers, let’s go!

For five years, we’ve been running Push Week — a 5-day program packed with mini-workshops, quiet writing sessions, and tools to get writing. We’re crashing into 2026 with a new, sped-up version — Push Weekend.

We all know it’s so easy to approach writing as a task, or thing to get through. But what else is true? And what happens when we step in with a different expectation? We’re going to try that out in this weekend-long carnival of forward motion and community.

As ever, we’ll centre momentum, support, and ease in the writing process. We’ll get comfortable, take lots of breaks, and write our little hearts out. At the end we’ll have an online open mic to share what we came up with.

Writers can arrive with any project — a thesis, a eulogy, a poetry collection, a novel, a value idea that hasn’t landed yet — and we’ll move our work forward together with love, connection, and a little bit of grit.

    • Have some kind of writing goal or project and don’t need a ton of guidance to get going.

    • Want to sink deeper into their creative process.

    • Want to loosen up the idea that writing has to be hard all the time.

    • Are hungry to connect to their writing, voice, and flow.

    • Want their writing to be swept forward by a guided process and community.

    • Feel aligned with our fundamental beliefs.

    • Critique on your writing. This is a largely self-guided process.

    • Instructions on “how to write.” Rather, we’ll create a rich writing experience to help you connect to what you already know in your bones.

    • Chances to share your work with others — check out our small group workshops or our coaching packages for that.

Details:

Push Weekend will be January 16th to 18th, 2026.

This is a choose-your-own-adventure experience with loads of sessions to find your way through at your own pace. The weekend will be peppered with sessions to get your writing flowing.

All of the sessions are optional. Come to what you can, let go of what you can’t, and let the momentum weave creativity through the weekend. Our Exploration Time and Intention Setting sessions will be taped and available for 4 weeks after the session is over.

If regular internet access is a barrier, contact us to get a call-in number for our sessions.

Schedule:

(All times are in Eastern Standard Time.)

Friday intention-setting:

Let’s start here. On Friday evening at 7–8:30pm, we’ll meet online to settle in, connect to what we want from our writing weekends, and get started. Come ready to write! This will be taped and available for 4 weeks after Push Weekend is over.

Focus time:

Sometimes you just need to sit down and do it. These are no-mess writing sessions with a simple check-in at the start and end to help us sink into our work and go.

  • Settling into the groove: 8:30pm–9:30pm, Friday evening

  • Early Birds Unite: 7am–8am, both Saturday and Sunday

  • Afternoon Expansiveness: 2pm–4pm, both Saturday and Sunday

  • Night Owls Connect: 9:30–10:30pm, Saturday evening

Exploration sessions:

No Firefly class would be complete without a few workshops. At key points through the weekend, we’ll host exploration sessions to take our work deeper. These will be taped and available for 4 weeks after Push Weekend is over.

  • Saturday morning, 9–10:30am: We’ll explore starting points, using the power of play and the unexpected to get our writing rolling.

  • Saturday evening, 7–8:30pm: We’ll reconnect to our why, exploring how to keep the lights on when our writing energy is starting to flag.

  • Sunday morning, 9–10:30am: We’ll write and then chat to unpack some of our questions about writing and the writing process.

Open mic:

Time to show off! On the final evening session, from 7–8:30pm, we’ll celebrate what we’ve made and discovered with an online open mic night. Come to share what you wrote, or just clap up a storm from your Zoom rectangle. We’ll be there to guide the evening with delight and celebration.

And to take it forward:

To keep all that momentum going, all participants will receive free access to Morning Coffee Sessions from January 19th to February 27th. If you’re already subscribed to Morning Coffee Sessions, you are welcome to gift this freebie to a friend.
