Morning Coffee Sessions

Gather. Scribble. Start the day.

Hungry for a writing routine?

Five times a week, 49 weeks a year, 9am, we’ll pop up on Zoom to invite you to settle in and get writing.

We’ll give a simple prompt and then set a timer for 20 minutes. At the end, we’ll read a poem to close the space.

That’s it.

As a participant, you can stay with the prompt or go on a tangent. You can write about the state of the world or the state of your morning. You can write in any style, any topic, any mood. The commitment is simply to let words lead the way.

We love your faces, so participants will ideally have video on (no pressure!) but only the coach will be audible.

Here’s how it works:

  • Sessions are every weekday at 9am ET, including statutory holidays.

  • We’ll meet on Zoom, if regular internet access is a barrier, contact us to get a call in number for our sessions.

  • You’re welcome to join any and all sessions using the same link for the month.

  • You can cancel anytime, no fuss.

  • Closed captioning will be on.

  • Questions about accessibility? Get in touch.

The fee is sliding scale, $25-$50 a month.

When you subscribe, you’ll receive a welcome email that includes the link for the current month. We’ll email you a new link at the end of each month until you choose to cancel.

Every month, we donate 10% of our proceeds to our bursary fund.

If you don’t have a credit card, or can’t currently afford the base fee, let us know, we’ll find a way to make it work.

Having the chance to start my day with a short, focused writing session sets me up for the whole day... whatever else happens I have taken the time to write...and especially during this time of uncertainty it is good to see a big community of people all with heads down scribbling away...it is a unifying moment.

I am so grateful to you all for seeing the writing community through this difficult time. Nothing like a pen and paper to change our lives.

Morning Coffee Sessions have often given me the reason to get up and start the day when I could easily have chosen to shut everything out for another hour or two! They have been a highlight of this time and I am constantly amazed at how such seemingly innocent prompts can unleash so many deep feelings and insights.
