Morning Coffee Sessions FAQ

You’ll need a computer or smartphone with a webcam (most are built in) and Zoom downloaded and ready to go. It’s a small file, free to download.

We’ll request that you silence all messaging while you’re in this session. Of course, we recognize that “life happens” and you may need to tap out if something comes up, but as much as you possibly can, we want you to be present to your writing and to the commitment of this time.

Your sessions will be with Chris, Kim, Asifa and Mary. That’s us (in that order) at the top of the page.

In the spirit of live events, these will be one-time only and won’t be recorded or repeated. If you miss one and you’re looking for some creative nourishment, dip into our pre-recorded writing prompts instead.

You can register online. You’ll get the Zoom link in your confirmation email. It’s the same link for each session in the month. You’ll get an email from us at the end of the month when it’s time for a new link.

Yes, once you sign up you’ll be on a rolling subscription. You’re welcome to cancel anytime.

In order to get those “we’re all in this together” vibes, we would love to see you. We won’t be able to hear you, so you don’t need to worry about background noise. So yes, our preference is for your video to be on, but if you hate it, or don’t have a webcam, you’re still very welcome.

We hope so! But we understand if something comes up.

All you need is an urge to do it. This is a non-competitive environment, and we won’t be sharing our work… just doing it.

That is our deepest intention. We recognize that “safe space” means something different to everyone, and that it’s an ideal to strive towards, rather than a destination. If you have specific concerns, or you encounter anything that makes you uncomfortable, we’d love to talk it over so that we can course-correct.

The writing that is shared in our programs can be deeply personal and vulnerable, so confidentiality and security are of the utmost importance to us. To align with our confidentiality guidelines and to make sure everyone feels their privacy is respected, we’ve taken some steps to secure our online programming spaces. Recording and AI notetakers will not be allowed on Firefly’s Zoom calls, and waiting rooms will be enabled in our small group writing programs.

We want to ensure that our online programming is as accessible as possible and that those who typically rely on recordings and AI notetakers to meet their accessibility needs can be accommodated in other ways. We’re happy to provide screen-reader-friendly versions of handouts, enable automated captions on Zoom calls, or chat about other ways we can help you engage comfortably and confidently in our online spaces. Please get in touch with us and we’ll work with you to meet your unique needs in whichever way we can.
