Writing Our Way Back to Each Other

We need each other.

The research is in — we are more disconnected from each other than ever. And while we let other people debate why (Screens? Social media? Politics? The pandemic?) we have another question in mind — how can writing help us find our way back?

Creative work, especially writing in community, helps us hear our voices, connect to our visions, and find our own ways to join the conversation. It helps us to be gentle with ourselves as we face the big divides of our time. It helps us reach out to others.

In this short pay-what-you-can evening we’ll breathe and scribble and explore who we are in this moment, connecting to the blocks that make togetherness hard, and then writing past them, towards the kinds of connections we’re most hungry for.

Here’s the plan:

This is a short 90-minute session designed for a large group. We’ll write together at least three times, pausing as we go to hear some voices from the group. Mari and Chris will introduce some research on social connection and loneliness, but mostly this will be a generative space, focused on participants’ creative process.

As ever, pajamas, bath robes, sweats, and slippers are very welcome. Come as you are, lovely ones.
