Just thank you.

Thank you.

We’re in the last hours of 2020 and I don’t know if anyone is checking their email, but I’m slipping out of vacation to say — thank you so much for helping to keep Firefly humming through this difficult year.

Thank you for coming to workshops if you came to workshops. Thank you for liking our posts if you liked our posts. Thank you for telling your neighbour about us. Thank you for opening our emails.

Thank you for getting yourself through 2020 the best way you knew how. For showing up for your needs and the people around you, whether that was waving at the delivery driver or shopping at a small business or finding new ways to rise up to the deeply unjust chasms of this world.

Thank you for moving through the hard parts.
Thank you for feeding yourself.

Thank you for bringing your best self to 2020 when you could, and for forgiving yourself when you couldn’t, and for knowing that we are so much bigger than the ideal version of ourselves, and that all parts of us deserve belonging.

This year pushed us all. I walked to the worst place in my hopelessness. I kept moving because you kept clicking “open” on these newsletters, saying yes to our new offerings, or kept quietly watching from the sidelines, feeling the seeds of the things you might write stir. It’s all part if it, and I’m grateful for it all.

The idea that tomorrow marks a fresh start is of course just a story, but we like stories, and if you like this one, I’ll meet you there. Here’s to a new page, a full pen, a chance to type a period and then a bold capital letter. Here’s to all that 2021 can be for us, together and separately. Or, here’s to carrying on as you have been. You get to decide.

Here’s to building a better version of everything, while doing our best find the love that’s here for us in the version we already have.

In this with you, whatever this is,
