Headshot of Brandon Wint with the text "Writing about grief, mortality, and the passage of time. An author evening with Brandon Wint."

Brandon Wint is a poet and essayist who has organized his life around turning feelings into art.

When his grandfather died this past spring, the grief brought new questions to the surface — questions about timing, artistry, and his own mortality.

What does it look like to write into seasons of grief and loss?

How do we trust the pace of our creative work, even when we know we don’t have unlimited time?

What does it mean to create beauty in a world that is itself failing?

“There’s an intrigue about this feeling,” he says, “And I wanted to resist the impulse to turn it into work too quickly.”

In this special author evening, Brandon will share new writing about what it’s like to write his way towards the themes of mortality, aging, and the passage of time.

After sharing reflections, he’ll have a brief interview with Firefly coach Asifa Sheikh, take a few questions from the audience, and then lead the group in a little writing to help us all engage our own words and stories on these big themes.
