Accessibility at Fells Meadows

Fells Meadows is an old farmhouse with 3 small cabins and a yurt on 100 acres.

The farmhouse (where all activities will take place and most participants will sleep) was built without accessibility in mind. However, it has some useful accessibility features, and we’re very happy to brainstorm solutions to hopefully make it work better.

The space may work for some mobility aids (canes, walkers, rollators, manual chairs) but may not work for all power chairs and scooters.

Don’t hesitate to reach out to us via the form below with questions, feedback, ideas, and requests! The owner of the space is dedicated to making the space more accessible, so any feedback will be shared with her.

Accessibility notes

  • Group activities and meals will all take place on the main floor of the farmhouse. There are no stairs to access the farmhouse or any of these rooms.

  • While there aren’t any steps to get into the farmhouse, cars can’t pull right up to the door, so there is a small gravel patch of ground to traverse (you can see it in the third photo).

  • There is one ground floor bedroom in the farmhouse with a double bed. Anyone who can’t use stairs will have first priority for this room.

  • There is a bathroom next to this room, which will be shared with other retreat participants. It does not have safety bars by the toilet, and there isn’t an accessible shower or tub.

  • The main floor bedroom and bathroom doorways are 29 inches wide, but there’s a towel rack in the way of the bathroom doorway, making it functionally 26.5 inches.

  • The other buildings on the grounds are only accessible by dirt path. Accessing them isn’t necessary for participation in the weekend.

  • There are a variety of chairs and sofas, with and without arms, for all kinds of bodies.

  • See detailed photos.
