Announcing two author events at Firefly this fall.
Hello Beautiful Human.
Mid-August can be a little strange, can’t it?
Whatever I do, I get tugged down by all the things I thought the summer would be. Fantasy meets truth. The summer I dreamed up, and the actual summer (so brief!) that I’m sitting inside of.
It’s important to me to have things to look forward to in the fall, so I’m pleased to say we have two delicious author talks coming up.
“When I Listen, the Whole World Widens” — an author evening with Devi Lockwood. First up on September 15th, long-time Firefly Devi Lockwood will be talking about her book, “1,001 Voices on Climate Change.” Devi traveled (mostly by bike) all over the world to talk to people about their personal stories of climate change and will be sharing from her book, answering questions, and leading us in some writing together.
“Writing Through The Body and Towards Healing” — an author evening with Brandon Wint. On October 8th, the luminous poet Brandon Wint will be joining us to host an evening of reflection and expression about the ways that writing from and through the body can point the way to healing. He’ll be reading from his book Divine Animal, reflecting on his insights of poetry as a form of healing, and leading us in some short writes.
Ticket sales are open! Both events are sliding scale, and all the funds will go directly to pay the authors and raise money for Artcirq, an Inuit performance collective in Igloolik, Nunavut, and Indigenous Climate Action.
Looking for more to look forward to? Our small group workshops still have space.
And of course, a poem for you… This is a poem by Brandon Wint, and instead of reading it, we’ve shared a video of him performing it, because wow. Click here and hit play.
Here’s to planting seeds of creativity and connection for ourselves to harvest in the months ahead.
In it with you,
