Imagine a Cabin
A cozy winter writing retreat from home sweet home.
Is it time to come back to your beautiful creative life?
Winter is a time for long journeys and deep reflection. Imagine a cabin, deep in the woods, surrounded by snow. Maybe there’s a wood fire, a mug of hot chocolate, a journal waiting to be filled. Can you feel it?
But then — OMG. Snowy roads! Bad drivers! Cold fingers! And the milk just froze in the back of the car.
Let’s be honest, here in Ontario, real life winter adventures are highly inconvenient.
This online retreat is a chance to go on a writing journey without leaving home. It is a lovingly curated weekend designed to guide you back to the joy of writing. We’ll create space, touch base with our innate playfulness, and nudge our creative voices awake to explore what they want to create now. What would bring you pleasure to work on? How can you soften into that?
We’ll use short writes, personal reflection, and creative exercise to listen to where our writing wants to go — then follow it there, supporting one another through the whole process.
It will be a journey. Without frostbite.
Here’s how it works:
First, we’ll gather on a Friday evening on Zoom to get to know one another, set some community agreements, and start writing. At 9pm we’ll head off for a good night’s sleep and some optional activities to keep the energy flowing.
On Saturday we’ll get back together at 10am for a mix of creativity-waking exercises designed to get new thoughts sparking and energies swirling. Then we’ll gently land into the big question — what wants to be written now? What new project or idea is ready to emerge?
In the afternoon we’ll move into longer writes, ending with a spacious silent period in the shared heartbeat of collective creativity and to sink into the direction that feels right.
Saturday evening will be an optional chance to connect further and write quietly together. If you’re done with your computer for the day, that’s great too! Zoom fatigue is real.
Finally, we’ll meet on Sunday at 11am to share what we created for deep and thoughtful feedback. From there we’ll create writing prompts and plans for forward creative motion, and we’ll end the retreat with some reflective writing about the road ahead.
There will be 10 participants and 2 facilitators, so sharing will happen in cozy groups of 5. We’ll take lots of breaks and screen-free time through the weekend. And — everyone will receive a padded envelope in their mailbox later, full of little treats and personalized prompts to keep the cabin vibes flowing.

Have a computer with a webcam, microphone and at least 1.5 mbph upload and download speed. (Check yours).

Are longing for a sanctuary away from the news, buzzing phones, and worldly responsibilities.
Feel aligned with our fundamental beliefs.

Are working on a writing project they’re not motivated by, like something for work. This experience is built on the love of words, and tapping into the heart of our writing processes.
Believe that their writing can only thrive in a critical writing environment. We believe that writing flourishes with heavy doses of kindness and support.
Don’t want to share their work at all. There will be lots of opportunities to share, and while it’s totally fine to pass from time to time, we’re looking for participants who are excited by sharing, even when it’s a little squirmy.
