Financial Aid FAQ
How do I apply for a bursary?
The application form will open 10 days prior to early bird registration. Application dates for the upcoming season are listed on our financial aid page.
When will I know if I’ve received one?
We’ll notify everyone who has applied the day before early bird registration opens. If this will be your first time attending a Firefly workshop or retreat, you’ll need to have a connection call with the facilitator in order to confirm your spot.
How much are they for?
The bursaries are for 25%, 50%, or 75% off our workshops, retreats, and coaching packages (the maximum bursary is $500). You choose the amount of subsidy you need to participate.
We don’t offer bursaries for our large group programs because they are all sliding scale, but if the lowest price is out of your budget, please let us know and we’ll find a price that works.
When do I need to use my bursary?
The bursary must be used in the season it is awarded. We recommend registering at the start of early bird registration week to ensure your spot in the workshop or retreat.
If life takes a turn and you decide to not take part in the program you chose, please let us know and your bursary will go to the next person in line. You are welcome to apply again. Your bursary will be available to redeem for one month after we email you.
Can I apply more than once?
Absolutely. You can apply as often as you like.
Even if you received a bursary in the prior rolling 12-month period, you are welcome to apply again. However, to help our bursaries reach a wider range of applicants, we’ll first draw from applicants who haven’t received a bursary in the prior year. You’ll still be added to the list for any available seasonal discounts.
The class I want to take has half-price spots available, is that the same as a bursary?
To add another level of accessibility, we offer two half-price spots for any programs designed for communities who experience systematic economic marginalization. These are given out first-come-first-served, no application necessary. Bursaries can be combined with these half-price spots.
If I don’t get a bursary, am I automatically enrolled in the next application deadline?
No, we don’t assume that you’ll still want a bursary after our deadline. If you don’t receive one, you’re welcome to apply again.
Where does the bursary money come from?
We fund this program ourselves, but any time we get a donation from our community we add to it. The more money that comes in, the more we can give out.
Can I contribute money to the bursary fund?
By all means! Thank you. You can contribute on the donation page.
