Online Creative Writing Workshops

Coming Home to Writing: An online writing course for people who want to be messy, honest and brave

This is a dynamic creative writing workshop for folks who long to write, but have trouble getting started. We’ll meet online every week for 90 minutes for seven weeks. You’ll see and hear Chris streaming live from Firefly Headquarters while you connect and share work on a secret Facebook group. Together we’ll work through a BUNCH of short, fun writes, flying our fingers across our keyboards splashing our imaginations onto the screen. We’ll expand our reach and experiment with new voices. We’ll support each others’ brave, tender stories. We’ll produce, produce, produce. Between sessions there will be optional homework assignments, writerly resources and a care package mailed to each participant’s door.

7 Tuesday evenings, 7:00 – 8:30pm
September 26 – November 21 (No class October 17, October 31)
With Chris and Ailsa
Cost: $295

The Blog Shop: An online workshop on blogging with heart, ease and authenticity

This online blogging workshop will gather together people who want to blog, need to blog, intend to blog, but don’t seem to get around to actually blogging. We’ll spend this workshop together exploring questions like: What is my deepest, most heartfelt material? Who do I want reading my blog and how can I attract them? Where can I find beautiful images without risking getting sued? How can I speed up the process and feel more ease and flow? We’ll work through lots of short writing exercises and produce, produce, produce.

Saturday December 2, 12:00-5:00pm
Plus: Optional Sunday December 3, until noon
With Chris and Danette
Cost: $250

MOMoir: An online writing workshop for moms who want to tell true stories about their beautiful, bumpy journeys as parents.

Are you a mama with stories to tell and almost no time to tell them? This online writing workshop is for busy mamas of all stages and shades of motherhood who want to reflect on their journeys, soak up inspiration, carve out a little “me” time and write, write, write.

Over eight weeks, either alone or in a supportive online community of women (your choice) you’ll scribble and type your way through stories, reflections, rants and snapshots of your journey as a mother so far. The focus of the class will be on a safe, fun, HONEST space for real stories of motherhood — the unexpected turns, startling joys, messy moments, growing pains, questions, loss and love that make up the life of a mother.

8 Thursdays (Self-Directed)
September 29 – November 16
With Saroo
Cost: $245
